Low-Cost Hospital Waste Treatment

July 2018, Mozambique

To reduce the overall cost of waste treatment from hospitals. Currently, this appears to be a crippling barrier for hospitals, that leads to poor waste management.

Expensive waste treatment of hospital refuse has resulted in inappropriate waste disposal, with hazardous and contaminated objects. This poses a large health risk. Thus devising a more efficient manner of disposing of hospital and healthcare centre waste such as syringes and used gauzes will lead to better waste treatment and a reduce in risk. With a high degree of blood-transmitted and water-borne diseases (such as HIV/AIDS and Viral Hepatitis), this waste is highly dangerous, as it can lead to spread of diseases.
